The blue moon rise at Portuguese Cove happened at 7:42AM, July 31. I took the following photographs about 13 hours later during its rise over the Atlantic Ocean. They were taken from my front porch.

The blue moon is the second full moon in any month and this event occurs on average every three years. Expect the next one in 2018.

I used a shorter focal length lens due to the climb up the road so the resolution is a bit less than the previous photos.
