Barred Owl and FriendsI enjoyed my first serious outing of the year including three short hikes, a prelude to our trip to Newfoundland. One does have to get in shape again after a winter of lounging. Highlights included a Barred Owl, White-breasted Nuthatch, Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, Osprey; and in the marshes, Ring-necked Ducks, Black Ducks, Mallard Ducks, Northern Shovelers, Green-winged Teals, Canada Geese, Northern Flickers, Swamp Sparrows, Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds, Tree Swallows and a Savannah Sparrow. It was a gorgeous day, 22 degrees and light winds. Even the cabbage butterflies were out. Could we have caught up with southern Ontario and Vancouver at last? It all started with the 99% illumination full moon of April, the smallest of the year, also known as the pink moon although mine wasn't pink. Full Moon April 21, 99% Illumination
