Gannets Flying Day 7 of Our Newfoundland Adventure at Cape St. Mary'sThe second in my series of photos from Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve is "Gannets Flying". These majestic fliers and divers are present off our coast here at Portuguese Cove every year but getting decent photos of them in flight is very difficult. At Cape St. Mary's it is a different story where they soar past close to shore, albeit at high speeds powered by the wind. The Newfoundland folk call this bird, "The Great Northern Gannet", appropriate indeed.
