Solitary SandpipersI found two Solitary Sandpipers this morning. One was tame as they usually are and the other one was skittish. This uncommon bird is an annual regular to the shores of the Chebucto Peninsula. They are similar to the Lesser Yellowlegs but look for the prominent white eye rings and white spectacles. They also have a speckled back which is very distinctive even at a distance. The front on view shows the distinctive "V" of the spectacle frames.
Note the distinctive white "V" on the face.
