The Tufted Duck is a rare visitor to Nova Scotia although it is an annual regular. The adult male can be confused with the adult male Ring-necked Duck at a distance although the ringed bill of the Ring-necked Duck is unmistakable and diagonistic. The tuft of the Tufted Duck is not easily seen as it is usually,....well, tucked.
I photographed my first Tufted Duck in Ontario in about 2002, north of Point Pelee National Park, using the rather poor early digital camera equpment.
