Occasionally I visit Portuguese Cove itself a small one acre sized horseshoe shaped haven from the nearby pounding surf. The break water no longer does its work as it should and the waves curl up into the cove, albeit much smaller than at the break water. The dock has been removed so boats no longer moor here but it still serves the Common Loon just fine.
