The Red-eyed Vireo usually returns in late May about two to three weeks after its cousin the Blue-headed Vireo. The Red-eyed Vireo is a continuous singer, non stop for hours, even late into the evening and late into the year.
I saw a nest once beside a trail with a parent sitting on eggs. It was no more than a metre from me but it wouldn't move so I left it in peace. The red eye of this bird is stunning if it catches the sun light.
