Newfoundland Expedition 2022

June 05, 2022

The Newfoundland Expedition 2022 was a disaster,..........................enough said.

I came home early and arrived in Nova Scotia June 1. I did manage to get in about 6 days of decent weather and photography, perhaps 3-400 photos after editing. I will present these photos by subject matter not in chronological order:

-Western Brook Pond;

-Terrestrial Mammals;

-Birds;

-Culture and Scenery.

To understand why a naturalist like me attends at this place consider this example. I was driving alongside a lake when a Golden Eagle soared by, impressive enough but that was followed up by a Gyrfalcon and shortly thereafter a Northern Goshawk. I know of no other place in Atlantic Canada where such a mix of raptors can be spotted in a short time. The trail to the dock at Western Brook Pond is loaded up with Lincoln's Sparrow, Northern Waterthrush and Wilson's Warbler.

I also captured excellent photos of Western Brook Pond, the great fjord of Gros Morne National Park, moose and caribou.
